Athens of Otago
I had to go to Oamaru the other day...
It's not necessarily somewhere you by choice.
I learnt a few things on my journey...
I had previously thought that Omma's was basically your last chance to get fast food on a car journey to Dunedin. The reason I had to go down there was a prolouge to an earlier story. I was to be a witness in a Coroner's inquest. Which is not really too difficult itself, I just stood in the witness box while the cop read my statement, then ask if I agreed. A pretty small thing to do seeing had to travel 8 hours on a bus to get there and back. Seeing I was there for a good few hours I went and had a look at the historic precient and found out about it's history. It is actually pretty cool, if your into Victorian buildings made of White stone. In fact if you get turned on by New Zealand pioneer heritage preservation, its a bit of a wetdream. But although it has a almost fully preserved area filled with Victorian buildings, I wouldn't have wanted to be there too much longer. But I might stop a little longer next time I drive to Dunedin.
Oamaru:
Population: 15,000 (approx.)
Nickname: The Whitestone town
By the way it was her fault.
Victorian splendour of an untouched nature
I'm happy right now, I hope you are. The purpose of this exercise is not to depression the sh(*)t out of you, but I guess in some ways, the material I display can occasionally be melancholy, dark, cynical, paranoid, contemptuous and dark but you can't blame me. Maybe you were depressed before you started reading all this and now you just want someone to blame! I'm just telling it how it is (to me). I am me. As is where is. Harsh is real and all that palava.
I like jokes....
I think even I'm starting to have trouble telling the difference between sarcasm and seriousness.

Infinite Title Disorder
Today’s quirky queries…
If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?
Why are you IN a movie, but you are ON TV?
Over-thinkers Anonymous
Misquoted:
Where tired clichés are updated to fit the New world order…
This week’s featured quotation artist: Thomas Jefferson*
(*I think he was the neighbour on Married with Children)
Just to prove I'm not anti-Republican (of course I am though) I have produced this small selection of ideas to demonstrate the evolution of republican thought. I have selected quotes from the early nineteenth century to compare how I think these ideas would be spun if they we thought of today, enjoy!
Then:
"Laws made by common consent must not be trampled on by
individuals." --Thomas Jefferson to Col. Vanneter, 1781.
Now:
"Laws made by common consent must not be trampled on by
individuals who did not attend Yale for at least one semester."
Then:
"The Habeas Corpus secures every man here, alien or citizen,
against everything which is not law, whatever shape it may
assume." --Thomas Jefferson to A. H. Rowan, 1798.
Now:
"The Habeas Corpus secures every man here, alien or citizen,
against everything which is not law, not applicable in
Guantanamo Bay"
Then:
"Where the press is free, and every man able to read,
all is safe." --Thomas Jefferson to Charles Yancey, 1816.
Now:
"Next on Fox & friends:
If you challenge the government are you a terrorist?"

Form, function and other useless bollocks!
I guess simplification can be a good thing, as long as it is not at the expense of the truth. I mean, so many news articles are so overly simplified that they become incorrect, or at the least misleading to folk who just skim the surface. The retractions are always hidden too deep within, to be noticed.
Here is a sorta cheesy thought for the day followed by some movie dialogue, jolly original of me I know but I just thought it was something to think about...
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a
Battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son,
The battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,
Greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment
Inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope,
Serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence,
Empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute
And then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
Colonel: You write "Born to Kill" on your helmet and you wear a peace button. What's that supposed to be, some kind of sick joke?
Joker: No, sir.
Colonel: You'd better get your head and your ass wired together, or I will take a giant shit on you.
Joker: Yes, sir.
Colonel: Now answer my question or you'll be standing tall before the man.
Joker: I think I was trying to suggest something about the duality of man, sir.
Colonel: The what?
Joker: The duality of man. The Jungian thing, sir.
Colonel: Whose side are you on, son?
Joker: Our side, sir.
Colonel: Don't you love your country?
Joker: Yes, sir.
Colonel: Then how about getting with the program? Why don't you jump on the team and come on in for the big win?
Joker: Yes, sir.
Colonel: Son, all I've ever asked of my marines is that they obey my orders as they would the word of God. We are here to help the Vietnamese, because inside every gook there is an American trying to get out. It's a hardball world, son. We've gotta keep our heads until this peace craze blows over.
Joker: Aye-aye, sir.

Cut the red wire....
we were too busy fulfilling our own!
Be afraid... be very afraid! Because if you're whipped up into a state of frenzied panic it's easier for powerful forces to influence your erratic mood shifts and paranoid tendencies.
Unless of course you live in Boston, then you should be very worried about being attacked by cartoon characters from outer space. This shocking plot was revealed by amazing minds that realised that in this post 9-Eleven era (mass media shorthand turned symbolic rallying cry) anything looks vaguely electronic is a bomb planted by people who "hate our freedom".
Ohhh whoops it was just advertising for Aqua Teen using light boards, now I'm even more afraid. Afraid that people who seem to be rational, civilised and living in large metropolitan areas can be so naive, and scared of outdated technology. I have focused on this hysterical reaction because it combines (and shows a clash between) intelligent or thought provoking media (e.g ATHF) versus one dimensional media coverage (e.g 'the news media'), I think some people need to get a grip. Why is it that your so supicious of things your know nothing about? More of the subversive activity can be evidence in this retro classic game made irreverent.
Get a friggin' sense of humour... This is what happens when you spread ignorance on a mass scale (Fox & Friends, et al I'm looking at you!) How come I've heard of ATHF and I live nowhere near the USA, but all these media analyst types on the big news channels have never heard of it? Ohhh that's right by head is located separately to my anus.
Our vertical leap is beyond all measurement!

Distorted Perceptions
More cynical pragmatic advice on lying for morally bankrupt election strategists!
- Don’t believe everything you think.
- Wipe you mouth there’s still a bit of bullshit on your lips.
- Never go to bed angry… stay up and plot your revenge.
- Why don’t you slip into something more comfortable… like a coma?
- Shhhhhh… that’s the sound of nobody caring what you think.
- Did you eat an extra bowl of stupid this morning?
- I don’t know what your problem is… but I’m sure it’s hard to pronounce!
- Don’t make me use UPPERCASE!
- You’re not yourself today… I noticed the improvement immediately!
- Don’t let your mind wander… it’s too small to go out on its own.
Ok they aren't brilliant but better than empty space I assume.

Spin to win!
no time...
I'd rather have a cluttered, complicated even incomplete view of the world... than assume I understand what has happened, what will happen, and to even try to formulate moralistic theories that use past occurrences and 'history' to explain the present. I am highly suspicious of anyone who thinks they can interpret the present through the past. History is so vast and varied that any examples can be picked to back up your conclusions which you have obviously formed then attempted to find 'evidence' to back it up. Case studies from the bible are about as scientific as dreams I have about strange towns that never existed. So there!
More specific rant:

Superman Joke...
It was recently requested that I add this joke to this blog…
Super man was flying along one day, looking down on the distant world below. Then with his super sight he saw ‘Wonder woman’ lying naked on her balcony, apparently sleeping. Superman thought: ‘I am super fast… I could go down there, and be in and out before she even notices…’ A battle of conscience began within the man of steel, until finally his desires got the better of him. Faster than a speeding bullet he flew down, did the deed and was off again before wonder woman knew what had happened. She said “Woooah… did you feel a strong breeze then? And the invisible man said: “I don’t know what it was but it really hurt my arse”
End of joke.
Personal Best
life is going a bit too fast (but not that twisted) at the moment...
but unfortunately have found time to add my two cents!
Did you ever read ‘Mad’ magazine when you were younger (or now)? There would usually be an introduction to each piece of writing which set-up the basic joke and left it open for a range of punch lines. This bit here is my tribute to those bits and also serves as a cheesy way to set up my own lame humour piece. So without further delay I present a piece entitled “You know you’re shallow if you…”
YOU KNOW YOU’RE SHALLOW IF YOU…
…think 2003 is ancient history.
…think climate change is a passing fad.
…believe what you read in tabloids.
…support radical free market ideology.
…have ever said: ‘that’s so hot right now’ (and you weren’t being ironic)
…don’t really care what the error was, but you’d like it fixed.
…make up your mind who to vote for on election day.
…believe what you read in the newspapers.
…want to criticise anything that I say.
…think money doesn’t influence politics.
… think Caesar was a salad maker.
… are really worried about celebrity couples relationships.
…think society is equal.
...are Paris Hilton.
…believe what you see on the news.
…think this is funny.
That is all.

Shameless Self-Promotion
Hopefully some quickly added photos will satisfy in the meantime...
Though they never have before....
Here's my comment for the day...
It's not evil to swear, it's not necessarily evil to think about harming someone. Its whether you go through with your thoughts that makes them evil... Well in my proverb book anyway. Its not black and white, there's a lot of grey. So what use is it teaching your offspring hard and fast rules and imperitives, that only suit a specific situation. Why teach people to bottle it all up and then release all their anger in a violent fit of rage? The worlds changing, will your moral compass survive?

Service Of Denial
Life’s battle in its most theoretical form…
Hollow people syndrome.
Is a nagging feeling of emptiness a constant nonnegotiable fact of life that is only disguised, here and there, by ambitions or tragedies that distract us momentarily? Ongoing, never-ending…
It seems we are either chasing the next obsession, or lamenting the one just gone. The satisfaction of achievement becomes eclipsed by the nothingness you feel when you don’t have something to aim for. What could you have done differently? Is regret a worthwhile emotion or just a way to look back on something you know no longer have a choice in/or control over? A yearning for the next/last high/low…
Is this my own neurosis or a widespread feeling of loneliness, depression, personal trauma, unlimited wants, lack of struggle for survival, missing outlets for primal aggression, sexual frustration, neediness?? Well OK I know it is not localised to my thoughts , because I read similar ideas from people that had died before my parents were born...
But then a gentle feeling that nothing is worth stressing about for too long descends.
I couldn’t say it better:

In heaven everything is fine!
How can people be so friggin' cruel? Wasn't it said that a society can be judged by how it treats it's most destitute and disadvantaged citizens?
"Oh but humans have to make the most of what we have, so we should reward those that can be the most greedy, this will increase the overall efficiency of the market, and as a side effect reduce the over-population problem amoungst the poor and inefficient! Survival of the fittest! let them sort themselves out, individualism, isolation, xenophobia... it is God's will!"
Yeah well it doesn't give you the right to be a c**t! Why can't you have some compassion or sympathy? Or is that to socialistic for you in our market system?
"Can those values be graphed?"
Woah a week just went past... and all I did was Youtube...
It has just been made official that everything can now be viewed.
Including everytime you have ever been to the toilet or to an

Man, I never knew girls fought each other so much until I searched

Bill O'Reilly eats children... (and minorities)
Just been trawling through the massive abyss that is Youtube…
(who hasn't)
Here are a few things I found that weren’t crap…
(And some that were…)
Thought I'd share a few of my recommendations out loud:
I warn you: Time will pass and you may not notice.
- Troops on LSD (wacked out)
- Bernie and Ert (in German)
- Bill O'Reilly on Letterman (for those who hate Bill)
- Borat on Letterman
- Gone Daddy Gone (Gnarls Barkley)
- Rotting Pumpkin
- New Bravia Ad (is pretty cool)
- My Way (Sid Vicious)
- Bill O'Reilly Spins some shight (shut up! shut up! shut up!)
...and if you get bored of that there are always school yard fights and bad ads to peruse!
Like Choirs? check out... 'heartbeats' has a nice video too...
.
.*.^.*.
.
Vicious lies and spouting my opinion:
Disclaimer:
I do not endorse violence, unless its humourous
or directed against someone that isn't me...
Can anyone tell me why Bill O'Reilly is not dead yet? Surely with so many guns around someone could do us all a favour? He is the devil's bitch on earth or something. Why is it only the right-wing nuts get to assassinate people. I am not really avocating his murder, even though approximately 60% of what he says is crap. But if someone wants to blow up Fox "News" (loose use of the word news) and not blame me, I would be slightly happier... Imagine Alex Jones and Bill O'Reilly in a Bare-knuckle brawl! Except Alex gets 2 grenades and a flamethrower... Im not really evil, but like everyone I have objects of hatred and things I wish did not exist, and I'm really sick of the right-wing agenda, that's running the world... Fox "News " can be funny for a laugh though...
mind is a razorblade
Typical Fox Commentary:
Situation #1: Repubican politician shoots someone accidentally.
Comments: "Nice shot, now lets get over it!"
Situation #2: Democrat politician talks about troops overseas.
Comments: From these comments we can assume that the Democrats seem to want to free Saddam, make America into a giant sex shop, ensure abortions are mandatory, use stem cell research to spread homosexuality and make all religion into communism.

Culture of Fear
Well now that old Saddam has been dealt to looks like a happy ending for everybody...
yeah right!
Oh except for the pesky *almost* civil war between the rival Sunni and Shitte factions, which I believe (if not purposely sparked by Western influence) is being encouraged.
(I obviously have no proof of this, so feel free not to believe me, but check out the articles and it seems pretty pretty suspect...)
Even the way the 'show' trail of old beardy is portrayed in the media,
frames it as battle between old and new power in Iraq, e.g. the old Sunni's who were on top are gonna pay for keeping the shitte's down for so long. So yeah go at it fellas, kill each other for Uncle Sam, same as they do in Compton. Shitte vs. Sunni, might as well be Crips n' Bloods. Just get the groups you fear/despise to do the dirty work themselves, all you have to do is blow up a few mosques.
Divide and conquer yeee har!
By the way I don't blame America itself, like all countries your powerful elite and ruling Government have got you in the dark, while they plan their next move(s)...

Double edged Post

Not only is this a great way to communicate intricate ideas to people I either don’t know or hardly see, but its also a good online storage facility for my less personal photos. So not only can you see photos I have taken lately or that I am unusually happy about, but you can read bollocks also. Do I hear Win-win situation! So keep this in mind, as in some cases: I may want people to especially view this photo, or in other cases I want to put it on my desktop at work, cos it cracks me up. You decide. Fun game for those playing at home!
Q u i c k . . f i r e . . n o t h i n g s :
- Not that I'm American but looks like the Republicans might be going down, and not just on their teenage interns...
- Ohhh yeah, if you haven't yet check out the new Weird Al Yankovich song "White n Nerdy" back to his best...
- If you haven't yet (and you don't find the earth boring) go see "An Inconvenient Truth" like me you may learn a thing or three, and understand why big business was never gonna let Al (Gore) become the big cheese...
- By the way have any of the recent shootings sparked any debate about gun control? Didn't think so... oh that's right it's in the Constitution (from our cold dead hands…)
So here’s some stuff I cut and paste from an email, and some photos I took in a city I don’t live in… For people who have visited before: sorry I haven’t put much effort into this in the past few weeks, I have been busy… so get off my case!
