After Life Management

Sunshine and Lollipops
(Or The meaning of Life part II*)

Can all spiritual experiences be explained in a scientific context?

Not denying the existence of a god but allowing for an alternative that makes the validity of a higher power irrelevant. Part of a great plan, a great cosmic reality, devoid of petty details that only have relevance in a limited context. There are infinite perceptions of reality but only one that matters, yours.

Hard to imagine, even harder to believe...
Mystical experiences = meaningfulness
Self-exploration = Therapy
Love myself and in doing so love mankind

There is no self, we're all just part of the universe, life is filled with meaning and importance. You just have to see it. Become something more than yourself. Find value in people instead of distancing yourself. Find who you are and why you live.

Explanation of all life or a feeling that shows it didn't really matter either way, due to stimulation of the right temporal lobe? Are shared experiences of seeing a "light" or a vortex proof of an afterlife, or just the final functions of a dying brain, consciousness does not depend on a functioning brain.

Out of darkness into light, ignorance to understanding...

Critical Meltdown

Troubled Individual Seeks Similar
My first big break (down)
This is where it got a little dark...

a jumbled mess of feelings and thoughts that will have very little meaning to all but a few...so skip this one if you are in the mood for laughs, I just had to put it here so I could calm myself.

some tried to warn me, some couldn't see
I was in a spiral of self destruction
I had ideas above my station
I was not motivated to achieve
I was meant for something else
I was meant to be someone else
I was acting like someone else
I now don't know who I am
I am struggling

waiting around for nothing
something else may never come
others won't do it for you
if you don't act for yourself

I search for meanings never there
but life goes charging on
stop seeking out the answers
if questions are meaningless
the more you dig the less you know
and the pursuit may finish you

one person in particular saw it everyday
I ignored the warnings and now I have to pay

the worst form of torture
I developed in my mind
used only against myself
friendly fire is unkind

ignored misused and abused for so long
my mental notes became volumes of guilt
But my mind remembers it all
this could haunt me for some time

I wish I could forget or at least not regret
so now I get to rebuild in another way

The Straw That broke the Camel's Back...

I wasn't really coping but couldn't tell anyone
now I'm still not coping but don't have to lie
we have to hit bottom before we can be saved

no one to blame but myself
you were right
and I was wrong

Suspension of Disbelief

Building Bridges to Knock them Down

I DON'T WANT POWER...
I JUST WANT TO
CONTROL EVERYTHING!

So you may have come to realise by now that this blog does not know what on earth it is doing or where it's going, but it does it anyway. It doesn't know all the answers, it may not know half the answers*. In fact the answers that it does actually think it knows are (or could be) completely (or at least partially) false.Kind of symbolic of myself and my approach to life.
This could be frustrating for some but may also produce varying levels of excitement for others, from the randomness created. Being prepared to rethink things on a daily basis, challenge our own thoughts, entrenched opinions, what we take for granted and/or think is real. Not because we flip-flop, but because we grow.

The puzzlement of the unknown, the drama that is encapsulated, the eternalness of the unknowable and the laughter that ensues. The choice to seek out new ideas, search for intelligence and quality where it can be found, and the willingness to carry on regardless of what may alter our perceptions. And so forth.... Out of me noggin' am I?

So don't mind if you don't always know what I'm talking about, because it's sometimes subjective, and I do flick between many different topics very quickly, and occasionally without prior warning.

Exercise in Futility

Got some space you would like to devalue? Then these should come in handy, you could print them off and make them into posters or just crappify your desktop or workspace if you want. Actually it's pretty much open for you to do what you like with them.
But ignore them at your own risk!

Next weeks themes include:
Icons, screen savers and humorous farting sounds for when you clear your recycling bin!

eventually lack of attention may disillusion me

Attack Decay Sustain Release

Disposable Heroes/Income:
(OR a good old political rant of misplaced anger*)

If I had a private army
I'd take it to Zimbabwe
unleash it on Mugabe
murder death kill

he deserves a proper death
long slow and torturous
but that's sinking to his level
Well we're already there

surely he should be dead by now?
What sort of world kills Ghandi
MLK, JFK, Bhutto, Lennon, etc...
but let's human waste like
Pinochet, Pol Pot and Mugabe
live to a ripe old age???

I'm disgusted in us all
especially myself

why do we assassinate good people?
I guess it's cos only evil people kill others
that is why we need good assassins like in the movies some sort of Norris/Eastwood/Stallone/Willis mission? but I forgot all the good guys are already at war
surely the UN can't talk and do nothing forever
unless that's what it was always designed for
a system to legitimate diplomatic inertia
while they sit on their washed hands
doing nothing nothing nothing
economic interests prevail
blood flows through Africa

seems the only people that want power
are the ones prepared to use it
to get themselves to power
and keep themselves powerful

so by definition all leaders are power hungry control freaks only wanting to perpetuate their own interests, feed their egos, scratch their cronies
backs and punish their opponents... however benignly they achieve this.
unless they're ignorant puppets like bush

not to mention all the other bad governments, regimes, atrocities, and genocide happening around Africa and the third world, that are obviously not as important as celebrity romance, sports and buying shit we don't need, on credit we can afford, to benefit people that despise our existence... (see comment attached)

This Ain't No Disco

You can be assure the reasons for this, are random and not deliberate.

This is not an advertising space, as far as no one pays me, so you can be assured of my honest opinion, untainted by the sleaziness of money or commercial imperatives. I only really mention things I found really interesting, thought provoking or just damn good! In saying that much of the time I am promoting some sort of cultural document or artwork. Whether it be a new Album, movie or in this case a comic book/graphic novel:

I just read this recently after finding it on a friends coffee table. Took me a while to get through it the first time, so I then re-read the whole thing again quickly. Which is really how these things should be enjoyed. Burn out, not fade away.

An exploration of American culture thought the eyes of a corporate executive who has just gone through some personal crisis of his own. This takes place right around the time of the most publicised event in modern history. So permanent in the collective memory of the West it has been given it's own three digit code: 9-11.

Is America broken or being fixed?

I'm not messy, I'm abstract.
I'm not lonely, I'm independent.
I'm not elitist, I'm discerning.
I'm not improving, I'm developing.
I'm not apathetic, I'm uninspired.
I'm not defective, I'm biological.
I'm not ruthless, I'm determined.
I'm not boring, I'm analytical (ha-ha anal)
I'm not pathetic, I'm misunderstood.

sorry I mean appropriated from...

Hello Darkness
Hello Sunshine
Hello Not all All
Hello All the Time
Hello Nowhere
Hello Oblivion
Hello Goodbye...

Who shoot biggie smalls? If we don't get 'em they gonna kill us all!
I'm down for running up on those crackers and their city hall!

Daydream, I feel asleep between the flowers...
for a couple of hours, what a beautiful day!

To finish off Lyrics taken from
Gnarls Barkley: The Odd Couple...

I don't know what matters to you at this moment...
but that's all that matters to me.

Anyone that needs what they want,
and doesn’t want what they need
I want nothing to do with

Somebody’s watching. Maybe you want em to see you
But with your regrets and secrets you don’t really want them to be you.

Here Be Spoilers

Please the world
the way you can
pleasure is good
for everyone

It is a distinct possibility
that the world has
always been this fucked up
and never deviated from
its current course one iota.

I guess it's our job as to try
as hard as we can
to make it better
no matter how futile
this may seem...

A small job/effort now
may produce marvellous
results in years to come
but that is not a certainty

Your payback may not come
assumption is a form of laziness
seek out the truth
and new thoughts
but don't think you own them

nobody knows the answers
except for what they have proven
you may know for yourself
but may never be able to explain

The future is unwritten...
except for the part where
we all die!

We can deny our heritage and our history, but we cannot escape responsibility for the result.

No one can terrorise a whole nation, unless we are all his accomplices.

We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty.

We cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home.

The Synthetic Age
In modern times we have managed to replicate many aspects of the past, except for the quality.

Material Fetishism
If the oppressed masses of the world were to unite or form a class consciousness, present power structures would be meaningless as they are based almost solely on an unequal distribution of wealth, and not as we are sometimes informed based on natural talents and abilities. If you really believe that vast wealth can be accumulated via 'hard work' or 'risk-taking' then shouldn't all inheritance be outlawed as it discourages people from both of those things. It only encourages people to jump vehemently to the defence of so-called 'property rights' and strongly resist any attempts to redistribute wealth...

Too busy, as always. Time/money paradox
Need more time,
but this must be sacrificed to obtain money.
Which is required to acquire possessions
which can be used to enjoy time.
Which you can't use
'cause you are too busy trying to get more money!
Endless cycle of labour
used to further others aims.
Means to an end.
Our forebears had it worse.
Who am I to complain?
A moaning whinger I assume...
The odds of winning the lottery aren't even worth a chance...
But we'll risk it as much as we can
for a opportunity to break out.
Is boredom better than being in pain
or would that at least provide some sort of stimulation
which is preferable
to the absence of any feeling or excitement.
Go on without me
I'll only drag you down
to my level
of wonder
at what is
and what isn't.

First they came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up, because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up, because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up, because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me.

Everything Is Temporary

The struggle for transcendence...

Suffering is normal
Pain is normal

The sooner we can collectively realise these truths
the sooner we may think of ourselves less as victims
and stop attacking each other because we feel threatened
or attack because we fear that we will be attacked
or think that we have already been...

Do I really want to believe the truth?
or just a compromised version of the truth
that allows me to continue to do what I want to do?

Got no regrets... except I wish you we're here with me...

NB:If you haven't done so already...
Watch "Children Of Men" the 2006 movie starring Clive Owen.
It is definitely one of the best films I have ever seen!
