Sorry For Your Loss

Ok so we all have decent enough internet connections these days, that me putting a bunch-o-pics on here, is not gonna mean you have to sit there for half an hour waiting for the hourglass to stop spinning? Is it? Agreed! Yay! I like consensus. Democracies are sooooooo messy, all that compromise and debate, then no one gets what they want... Whereas dictatorships have brilliant uniforms, trains that run on time with precision efficiency and a big stick to clobber any complaining weasels with dissenting opinions that aren't on board for the big win. Leaving only one over-arching, non-rhetorical, anti-conformist question remaining; hoovering like a bad smell or insect, above the elephant in the room... "When did you become a nut-bar?" The cries rang out, as machine-gun fire pierced the air in celebration, mixing sports, politics, warfare and prejudice into several imaginary allegories of moral confusion and disconnection from the natural environment. That we had learnt so much about from our time in windowless buildings full of other disenchanted homo sapiens. Boredom is a symptom of time, like life is a symptom of death. More details to follow, that will surely confirm what you had previously thought was nonsense, but never the missing link that barely matters either way.

Silent Analysis

Time for me to try something new?

Or just copy, copy, copy??

I just want to put the lyrics of two songs here and not make any comment at all, except for people to drawn their own conclusions, based on their own feelings and experience.

Just read them and see how you might think they are related.

I may have an opinion or bias, but you will have to guess it your self.

Go Outside - The Cults:

I really want to go out
I really want to go outside and stop to see your day
You really want to hole up
You really want to stay inside and sleep the light away

I really want to go out
I really want to go outside and make it light all day
You really want to hole up
You really want to stay inside and not care where you lay

Well I know what's good
Exactly cause I have been there before
Yeah I know what's good
Exactly those things night cannot behold

I really want to go out
I really want to go outside and stop to see your day
You really want to hole up
You really want to stay inside and sleep the light away

I think it's good to go out
cause if you don't you'll never make a memory that will stay
I think that you should wake up
I think I want to live my life and you're just in my way

Baby Said - Hot Chip

my baby said she wanted some action
i said baby, i can't give you that
i'm a simple man
my baby said she wanted adventure
i said baby, the outside world's not safe
we should sit down
my baby said she wanted some action
i said baby, i can't give you that
i'm a simple man
my baby said she wanted adventure
i said baby, the outside world's not safe
we should sit down

i read all the time about how they fly
like children my mind is filled with playtime
but why must i go out into the cold?
my life is inside, we're safe, we can hide
i read all the time about how they fly
like children my mind is filled with playtime
but why must i go out into the cold?
my life is inside, we're safe, we can hide

my baby said she wanted some action
i said baby, i can't give you that
i'm a simple man
my baby said she wanted adventure
i said baby, the outside world's not safe
we should sit down
my baby said she wanted some action
i said baby, i can't give you that
i'm a simple man
my baby said she wanted adventure
i said baby, the outside world's not safe
we should sit down

NB: I could give you a few questions/ideas to consider, but I would feel too much like I'm spoon-feeding you and trust me you would get sick of that. Isn't it better to have a mystery to solve yourself? You can't cheat in the maze of life, oh wait yes you can...

p.s It's ALL psychological.

Constant Conflict

Want to entertain, as that is what interests

But in a meaningful way that will stand the test of time

Give the people what they want but also what they need

A way to express and to cope without letting it win

In time determination will triumph over novelty

Aspiring for variety but achieving mediocrity

Get the basics right and the rest will follow

Mixing things that interest me with the odd new idea

Spreading the message of enlightened critique

Enthusiasm for the unknown or non-existent

Would you sell-out if you could?

What about if you had to?

Difficult Subject Matter

The Starts of Thoughts

From Underground credibility
To accessibility in the mainstream?
Do they all merge into one mass culture?
Is there a mainstream for each country?
Or a overall mainstream of meta Western culture?
Death is never funny, unless you are into black humour...

If I were 'crazy' I would say that our global economy
is built on a Ponzi scheme that is addicted to growth...

but I might get labelled an 'activist' for spreading such truth.
Wish I had some insider trading tips (I'm probably on a watch list now)
but I don't want to associate with corporate thieves
Robber barons, raiders, slash-and-burn-merchants

Agony, torture, pain

The General Specific (I'm Invisible)

Making sense of it all yet?

Cos I'm still kind of confused and finding out that
the more I know, the less I really know...

I mean ya think one thing is certain
and then it goes and changes on ya

No one is really right! Right?
cos there is far too much stuff for us to ever know
like tidal waves of avalanches of untamed knowledge
that has lasted over the years and only grown
larger and more accessible in the internet age
if that is indeed a term that anyone will use
a hundred years from now

I'm not trying to confuse you further (or am I?)
but I just don't think I will work it all out, any time soon
if at all, but I just like taking heaps of wild guesses
and see if I can get one right, but there's always an exception

everything is Just too big really isn't it Toto...

One man's obscure reference, is another's cliché
variety is the spice of different stuff
but if you find what you like, don't pull it apart
unless you are really good at putting it back together
and as long as pulling it apart won't wreck it
temporary portable virtual jargon holistic nonsense
sorry I drifted into buzzwords there for a moment

I am just saying that I can't sum it up into words
but if you put it all together and then forget it again
your almost halfway there...

Where is your spirit going when you die?
who is to say it's not there now?
why would something so existential as a spirit be limited by physics?
does it have to be attached to you?
could it not be infinite?
are our dreams a preview of the afterlife?
will we get to play in our own minds/memories for all eternity?

I should probably not try to work this weird stuff out
but I've got a bit of time to think, so I really can't help it...

The joke isn't:
I have far more questions than answers
and none of them are easy

hope this doesn't sound the least bit tragic
cos I am someone who likes thinking about oddities
I guess I would like some answers too
I mean, who wouldn't want some of those??
but am getting better at accepting
that they don't always exist, to my knowledge

if your happy, your in heaven already...

deeper than than the sea
wider than the universe
and like that! He's gone...

  2. Plums
  3. Grapes

Not To Be Taken Literally Or Orally

"Desiderata" - Max Ehrmann

Desiderata. Desiderata. Desiderata.
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender,
Be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others -
Even the dull and ignorant, they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons - they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter,
For always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career -
However humble, it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is.
Many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially do not feign affection, neither be cynical about love.
For in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
It is as perenial as the grass.
Take kindly the council of the years,
Gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune,
But do not distress yourself with imaginings -
Many fears are borne of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe.
No less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life,
Keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be careful. Strive to be happy.

(But wait there's more...)

"Deteriorata" - National Lampoon

You are a fluke of the universe. You have no right to be here.
Deteriorata. Deteriorata.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste,
And remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
Avoid quiet and passive persons, unless you are in need of sleep.
Rotate your tires.
Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself,
And heed well their advice, even though they be turkeys.
Know what to kiss, and when.
Consider that two wrongs never make a right, but that three do.
Wherever possible, put people on hold.
Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment,
and despite the changing fortunes of time,
There is always a big future in computer maintenance.

Remember The Pueblo.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle, and mutilate.
Know yourself. If you need help, call the FBI.
Exercise caution in your daily affairs,
Especially with those persons closest to you -
That lemon on your left, for instance.
Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls
Would scarcely get your feet wet.
Fall not in love therefore. It will stick to your face.
Gracefully surrender the things of youth: birds, clean air, tuna, Taiwan.
And let not the sands of time get in your lunch.
Hire people with hooks.
For a good time, call 606-4311. Ask for Ken.
Take heart in the bedeepening gloom
That your dog is finally getting enough cheese.
And reflect that whatever fortune may be your lot,
It could only be worse in Milwaukee.

You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.

Therefore, make peace with your god,
Whatever you perceive him to be - hairy thunderer, or cosmic muffin.
With all its hopes, dreams, promises, and urban renewal,
The world continues to deteriorate.
Give up*!

Truth and Beauty

Ok so pretty sure now it is/was the indoor weather-station thingy (WST) causing the image mangling. I did the bottom two pics with it on, then turned off (took out the batteries) the WST to do the others, it slowly came right...

If I had known you were coming I would have made a mix-tape, well a CD... but with songs specifically selected for you by me for your listening pleasure!

Starting to Suck Now

I'm starting to get sick of what is happening to these pics
and I have a new theory...

I think my wireless connection has been disturbed/distorted
since Xmas day, when we set up an indoor weather station
with outdoor remote sensor, I think that must be interfering
with the wireless signal somehow, does that sound likely?

damn it , I was just getting used to knowing the humidity levels
and the difference between outdoor and indoor temperature

Trend Spotting

Is it just me or do Rorschach test pictures sometimes look like a monochrome butterfly that was squashed by a stretched Hummer limousine driven by corporate greed on a highway to oblivion?

In the kingdom of fools the easy answers are fighting to control the rapidly disappearing middle-classes lost ideals of nostalgic imagination, we always knew how to sweep it all under the carpet. So the collective lessons are never learnt, so every generation has to overcome another tyranny.

Pressing all the buttons again and again, without remembering what the result was last time.

Nah, I'm just messing with ya! I don't really believe that we can save the world tomorrow. But I guess that doesn't mean that we can't try, in our own small ways to make things better for the future. It's the little things and all that.

Total Molecular Disintegration

I just really wanted to use that title, since I saw that recently. It was the name of a type of extremely (warning understatement) spicy (not joking, could not only finish one piece and was not coping well in the tongue and lip department, whoops haven't even told you what it is yet...) chicken snack, at a pub/restaurant in town (roughly) that we had won a bar tab in a quiz (competitive knowledge is awesome! sample question: Name the three band members from the band Nirvana), but that is another story that I'm not going to tell you. ...on an unrelated note, I heard a radio review today of the new Lou Reed/Metalica album. It didn't seem like my cup of tea. The bits I heard sounded like they might be for an acquired taste and apparently other reviews aren't that great. But oh well Lou Reed has been on his own trajectory for awhile now, so any true fans he has left might be keen on some masochistic art rock. I didn't need another reason to hate Metalica though, I was never really into their music (full disclosure: except for maybe one or two songs from the past if I were really drunk) and we may still have Napster if it wasn't for old Lars (well probably not but I still thought he was a right wank about the whole thing). Some kind of fucking ego monster alright, but not one that I want to subject my ear holes to...

But I have to also admit I am currently as writing, listening to the Trainspotting Motion Picture soundtrack (playlist to follow) (another example of a movie which I should probably read the book, but I don't think I will cos I have heaps of other shit I want to read, but I won't get around to because of the internet and other excuses), which includes the song Perfect Day by Lou reed, which I like.
