Animal Kingdom

I can think for myself, just sometimes I chose not to...

Cut and paste brigade:

To start things off, we'll play a song that exemplifies the musical style of Saint Etienne which features electronica influences, a subtle use of vocal harmony, extensive vamping, minor key tonality and a vocal-centric aesthetic

Song lyrics:

Miike Snow – Animal

There was a time when my world
was filled with darkness
And I stopped dreaming now
I'm supposed to fill it up with something

In your eyes I see the eyes of somebody
I knew before, long ago
But I'm still trying to make my mind up
Am I free or am I tied up?

I change shapes just to hide in this place
but I'm still, I'm still an animal
Nobody knows it but me when I slip
yeah I slip I'm still an animal

There is a hole and I tried to fill up with money
But it gets bigger to your hopes is always running
In your eyes I see the eyes of somebody
that could be strong

Tell me if I'm wrong
And now I'm pulling your disguise up
Are you free or are you tied up?

I change shapes just to hide in this place
But I'm still I'm still an animal
Nobody knows it but me when I slip,
Yeah I slip, I'm still an animal

Free West Papua

Verbosity Unplugged...

Divide and conquer; Unite and suppress...

Noblesse oblige is a French phrase literally meaning "nobility obliges", a thing of the past?

energy, kilojoules and calories are the same thing

I live. I have a sense of my own identity. I am somebody.

A Game Changer

...Should Have Been Number One to Me

Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.

All You Can Eat

Quick question:

These days...

how do parents teach their children about:

  • self-control
  • self-restraint
  • self-discipline
when these qualities are constantly under attack from advertising...
"culture", modern life in a industrial capitalist driven society

..it must be extremely difficult, I assume...

"Gimme, gimme, GIMME!!"

The Big Problem ≠ The Solution. The Solution = Let It Be

The United States has it's own propaganda, but it's very effective because people don't realize that it's propaganda. And it's subtle, but it's actually a much stronger propaganda machine than the Nazis had but it's funded in a different way. With the Nazis it was funded by the government, but in the United States, it's funded by corporations and corporations they only want things to happen that will make people want to buy stuff. So whatever that is, then that is considered okay and good, but that doesn't necessarily mean it really serves people's thinking - it can stupefy and make not very good things happen.
