The Overly Dramatic Truth

Who is right? Who is left?

Want to get your opinion out?

(Don't we all?)

Then why not set up a special interest
or single/multi issue website
to preach your message out:
(as I have done)

Water Worries

The Devil's Pizza

Victory at all costs? <I do not agree with the opinions expressed here (or the videos)

Exit strategy now?

How can you fight against an abstract concept?

Apparently: We've already had one 9-11 we son't need another, but who's got the right answers to make the world safer, not just make certain militant groups less stronger. You're still going to have thosae under lying issues (e.g recent US foreign policy, support of Israel in Palestine, historical interpretations of past events, etc..) are going to make certain disenfranchised people commit horrific acts. Because just like hawks in the pentagon/whitehouse they believe their ends justify their means. Because they see authority abusing its power, or societies turning their backs on communities and other horrendous stuff that would make you start to hate and project that hate toward the enemy/other side. The different. The bastatdos.

In hindsight historically certain wars seem necessary and other don't. Really none of them are entirely necessary at all, but inevitable. Due to situations arising from conflicts of interest, lack of resources, (overpopulation?), intensive military build-ups driven by greedy arms manufacturers (supported by the Mass Media Murdoch Industrial complex markets) they are always going to happen. While the few control the many, and we live in pseudo democratic think tanks run by markets for outside profit giant pyramid scheme, all going to the top. What can be changed? What is always going to happen? Tyranny can be brought down, but is usually replaced by the devil you didn't know. Only time will tell. Can't we all just get along? Well no unfortunately it doesn't seem we can...

Service of Denial

Helplessness leads to compensation

flash bang
what is happening
it goes too fast at the time
impotence
what can I do
wishing you could stop it
Feeling like an observer
Token gesture
those you knew hurt
others flee
It's over
if only...
regrets:
then afterwards you have all the time in the world to deconstruct what you saw, how it happened, what you could have done, what you didn't do. If you hang on to it, just that little too long... you hatch some plans to get your moment, and once you start you might not be able to stop, your committed your mind goes into overdrive. There's no point thinking of rational solutions you chose action. You can't put your shirt back on, once you've thrown it in the crowd, you better look like you planned to get bare chested. You've reacted, now it's you or them and then you just hope you have enough followers to avenge you, and try to build your gang/ faction/ clan/ cult/ tribe/government/ community/ militia group/ religion/ friends and family better bigger stronger fitter happier than the opposition... you get the idea, maybe? I think i'm gonna have to stop this one before I take the big step, or keep it completely under the radar... and I mean like that's all i'm gonna say even to you kind secrecy level. They better hope that something mellows me/distracts my attention/or gets me more angry, before I think of really funny (but completely legal and even safe) ways to exact my revenge!

FYI: I don't actually have a militia group or a government of my own (well maybe ones that represent me in parliament)...

Small Cog in a Big Machine

If this is all just a big waste of time then it's not really a waste because time isn't really anything except numbers on the clock. Unless you believe that time is money, well then I'm afraid I may owe a bit, but tv owes me more. If music was being played during this time and was enjoyed then you can't call that a waste. Struggling now or just finding excuses. Never knowing if the best has been or is yet to come. Internally and externally, beyond and upward. Who will decide what was best to think about. It's funny how we can't always predict what is coming up next.

Working Class Zero

This blog may have appeared to have been a little socialist in the last post, well if the shoe fits? Anyway from Lenin to Lennon I want to go back to my earlier discussions about The Beatles and their differing levels of talent. Not only in an effort to stir up opinions. I would go as far as saying that the Liverpool four-piece had two of the most talented musicians of all time and also coincidentally two of the luckiest...

Who can guess who is who?

I pinched this description off some other site, but it does the trick:

Formed in 2006, Collapsing Cities has become one of New Zealand’s premiere Dance Rock Bands. Their blend of dance and rock has struck a chord with audiences around the country. Singles 'Elixir Always' and 'No Plans' off their self titled EP released in February 2007, have lingered in various Bnet radio top tens listings for months. Their new album is being mixed and is due for a July 2007 release

...written in PR-speak but I agree with the general sentiment.

Commodity fetishism

The Curse:

Please indulge my bleeding heart and excuse my irrelevance as I lament a general loss of craftsmanship, in a world where increasingly the victims are seen as the cause (of misery, poverty, confusion, etc.) and not the symptom...

The Synthetic Age:

In modern times we have managed to replicate many aspects of the past, except for the quality. I know what your going to say "Go live on a farm and stop using your computer then if repetition, ease and efficiency are such burdens. By the way you using a computer to write this.. and so forth." Well I said it anyway! People used to make those by hand you know! "Yeah sure grandpa!" Ok so I want the advantages of technology without the resulting negative byproducts. Doesn't everyone want their cake and everybody else's?

How to be ignored in popular discourse:

If the oppressed masses of the world were to unite or gain a class consciousness, present power structures would be meaningless as they are based almost solely on an unequal distribution of wealth and not, as we are sometimes informed, based on natural talents and abilities. If you really believe that vast wealth can be accumulated via 'hard work' or 'risk-taking' then shouldn't all inheritance be outlawed as it discourages people from doing both of those things. It only encourages people to vehemently defend so-called 'property rights' and strongly resist any attempts to redistribute wealth... (I'm not saying that your gonna get far by sitting on your arse, unless your dad was head of the CIA...)

By the way I am aware that almost all attempts at revolution are abused and exploited by those that eventually gain power, but this time it's different god damn it!!!

The interaction of politics and economics should be something we all have an opinion on, however much money we have or don't have.

The illusion of choice:

“The United States has only one party - the property party. It’s the party of big corporations, the party of money. It has two right wings; one is Democrat and the other is Republican.”
-Gore Vidal

(Ok so that quote focuses on America but it is relevant to almost all modern societies...)

“Those who cast the votes decide nothing; those who count the votes decide everything.”
Joseph Stalin (e.g Florida 2000)

Are thoughts meant to be fun/torturous or just functional things to accomplish, means to an end? Because I'll tell you they get tricky to deal with at times, and you can see why people try to escape, well I guess we all do in minor ways, but the ultimate escape plan is really the most selfish, it may help you (or seem to) but really your just disembarking and leaving the other passengers with the fare. They will have to pick up all the excess baggage. So what if I abuse my metaphores, they never say exactly what I mean anyway. Isn't it better to be ambiguous and let others read between the lines? Notice I usually ask the questions instead of answering them. Someone promised easy answers.

Power struggles can distract our focus from the true nature of reality, not continually maybe? More often at a workplace, club, school, family or other competitive environment, we must always establish a hierarchy, make some winners, some losers and nobody is to question any uneven distributions because this is inherent inequality is built into the pyramid structure of society to punish the lazy and reward the entrepreneurial, or speed up economic Darwinism I can't remember which...

Deeply thoughtified funk soul brother

Whatever I write it could be a complete load of crap or it could be worth reading. It may appeal to something deep within you, although it may be really boring or totally untrue or really about something quite simple that you learnt a while ago that is not really interesting. But what have you got to lose? Its not like I can take knowledge away from you is it? I can't make you forget something utterly useful or condemn you to a life of boredom. Only myself. Happy travels. Amen, in a non-religious way.

repartition is for suckers, except me
repetition is for suckers, except me
reputation is for suckers, except me

as seen off TV

(p.s as you might have guessed the only purpose of that title was to grab attention/turn away undesirables, not that I'M elitist, I just don't care for riff-Raff, pop charts, boy bands, reality TV (actually I've been sucked in by a few (even the trump)so i must realise on some level that I am just as shit as any other sucker on the orbiting globe) ludicris claims, the past, the present and everything/nothing kinda ying yang complicated type situations that aren't fulfilling.

Not everyone particularly likes change, to put it mildly. In fact some people are down right petrified of it, and therefore act confrontationally toward it. Of course it might be pleasing in some ways if nothing ever changed, offering us comfort and stability. That would make nostalgia a bit irrelevant, but anyway, the fact is change is constant and anything we do to halt change will only be temporary. So our basic choice is learn to go with the flow, or exhaust yourself by fighting against the current.

I don't care if you have read it before...

Spoiler Warning!

Where am I when I'm not here?

I must admit that I haven't been keeping up my end of the bargain lately. The deal is I write obnoxious phrases and witty observations about things going on in my head, and you read/ignore it... But I have not been fulfilling my part of this codependent relationship in the past few months. I just wanted you to know I am aware of this situation and will be putting systems in place to prevent these sorts of breaches of conduct occurring in future. Well that works when you tell your boss, so should buy me a bit of time.

All bollocks aside though, I was spending heaps of time adding stuff to the "Twisted by Life" myspace page, which although I have created for this blog, is unofficial and anything said on there is a filthy lie. But seriously folks, it took me like an hour to put in the movies I like and other silly crap like that, that stuff sucks away time like some kind of chronological vacuum cleaner. But that's not all, my myspace craze then morphed into a animation obsession, so just to show you what has been stealing my time lately, here are some examples...

Mucking around with fruit...

Bottle Opener Blues ...and again

Red Chair Revolution

Esturary Madness

Also tiny ones for people with good eyesight:

Okay the first one is the only one I really like, the other ones are more like experiments, but if I'm putting one here I might as well put a few more... Bear in mind this has slowed down my progress in reading my book (slowly progressing through the Dice Man), watching movies*, listening to muzac, drawing pictures, showing affection to others and blogging in general.

*more like rewatching the entire Sopranos back catalogue

Editors Note (not meant to entertain)

BTW....

I may not put as many photos on here as I have previously...
Just ones that I really like, marginally respect or begrudgingly acknowledge. The main point is that I now have other places to store photos, so instead of putting photos in my posts I can just put links to them. Anyway this does not really matter. There are a few pics located on my my myspace space space. So will probably just use this space to talk crap, pester you with ideas that go nowhere, and generally continue to exist in the fashion I have become accustomed to.

The middle ground between idle thinking and crappy expressive writing!

Mixing up storm,

notes from the edge...
inside the thought factory...

Too busy, as always. Time/money paradox. Need more time... but this must be sacrificed to obtain money. Which is required to acquire possessions which can be used to enjoy time. Which you can't use 'cause you are too busy trying to get more money! Endless cycle of labour used to further others aims. Means to an end. Our forebears had it worse. Who am I to complain? A moaning whinger I assume... The odds of winning the lottery aren't even worth a chance... But we'll risk it all, for a opportunity to break out. Is boredom better than being in pain? or would that at least provide some sort of stimulation which is preferable to the absence of any feeling or excitement. Go on without me, I'll only drag you down, to my level, of wonder at what is and what isn't.

Subversive remorse

I'd rather talk about things I have no control over, abstractions so far off their existence is debatable. I have political ideas but they more resemble philosophical discussions, people on the extremes are usually (too) close to the issue, I don't wanna pick an opinion that won't be relevant in a few years, not that I chop and change, but my ideas do, I'm not gonna tell you a fool proof way to save the world, but I'll tell you my opinion today, but try to remember this is not a person it's an idea, my other ego is my id, do I want your approval? sometimes...

There's your explanation
I might mirror this all from now on?

that works...

Athens of Otago

I had to go to Oamaru the other day...
It's not necessarily somewhere you by choice.
I learnt a few things on my journey...
I had previously thought that Omma's was basically your last chance to get fast food on a car journey to Dunedin. The reason I had to go down there was a prolouge to an earlier story. I was to be a witness in a Coroner's inquest. Which is not really too difficult itself, I just stood in the witness box while the cop read my statement, then ask if I agreed. A pretty small thing to do seeing had to travel 8 hours on a bus to get there and back. Seeing I was there for a good few hours I went and had a look at the historic precient and found out about it's history. It is actually pretty cool, if your into Victorian buildings made of White stone. In fact if you get turned on by New Zealand pioneer heritage preservation, its a bit of a wetdream. But although it has a almost fully preserved area filled with Victorian buildings, I wouldn't have wanted to be there too much longer. But I might stop a little longer next time I drive to Dunedin.

Oamaru:

Population: 15,000 (approx.)
Nickname: The Whitestone town

By the way it was her fault.

Victorian splendour of an untouched nature

Program files:

I'm happy right now, I hope you are. The purpose of this exercise is not to depression the sh(*)t out of you, but I guess in some ways, the material I display can occasionally be melancholy, dark, cynical, paranoid, contemptuous and dark but you can't blame me. Maybe you were depressed before you started reading all this and now you just want someone to blame! I'm just telling it how it is (to me). I am me. As is where is. Harsh is real and all that palava.

I like jokes....

I think even I'm starting to have trouble telling the difference between sarcasm and seriousness.

Infinite Title Disorder

Today’s quirky queries…

How important does a person have to be before they are assassinated instead of murdered?

If money doesn't grow on trees then why do banks have branches?

Why does a round pizza come in a square box?

Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up about every two hours?

If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?

Why are you IN a movie, but you are ON TV?

Over-thinkers Anonymous

Misquoted:

Where tired clichés are updated to fit the New world order…

This week’s featured quotation artist: Thomas Jefferson*
(*I think he was the neighbour on Married with Children)

Just to prove I'm not anti-Republican (of course I am though) I have produced this small selection of ideas to demonstrate the evolution of republican thought. I have selected quotes from the early nineteenth century to compare how I think these ideas would be spun if they we thought of today, enjoy!

Then:
"Laws made by common consent must not be trampled on by
individuals." --Thomas Jefferson to Col. Vanneter, 1781.
Now:
"Laws made by common consent must not be trampled on by
individuals who did not attend Yale for at least one semester."

Then:
"The Habeas Corpus secures every man here, alien or citizen,
against everything which is not law, whatever shape it may
assume." --Thomas Jefferson to A. H. Rowan, 1798.
Now:
"The Habeas Corpus secures every man here, alien or citizen,
against everything which is not law, not applicable in
Guantanamo Bay"

Then:
"Where the press is free, and every man able to read,
all is safe." --Thomas Jefferson to Charles Yancey, 1816.
Now:
"Next on Fox & friends:
If you challenge the government are you a terrorist?"

Form, function and other useless bollocks!

I am wrong, you are wrong...
I guess simplification can be a good thing, as long as it is not at the expense of the truth. I mean, so many news articles are so overly simplified that they become incorrect, or at the least misleading to folk who just skim the surface. The retractions are always hidden too deep within, to be noticed.

Here is a sorta cheesy thought for the day followed by some movie dialogue, jolly original of me I know but I just thought it was something to think about...

Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a
Battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son,
The battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,
Greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment
Inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope,
Serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence,
Empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute
And then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Colonel: You write "Born to Kill" on your helmet and you wear a peace button. What's that supposed to be, some kind of sick joke?
Joker: No, sir.
Colonel: You'd better get your head and your ass wired together, or I will take a giant shit on you.
Joker: Yes, sir.
Colonel: Now answer my question or you'll be standing tall before the man.
Joker: I think I was trying to suggest something about the duality of man, sir.
Colonel: The what?
Joker: The duality of man. The Jungian thing, sir.
Colonel: Whose side are you on, son?
Joker: Our side, sir.
Colonel: Don't you love your country?
Joker: Yes, sir.
Colonel: Then how about getting with the program? Why don't you jump on the team and come on in for the big win?
Joker: Yes, sir.
Colonel: Son, all I've ever asked of my marines is that they obey my orders as they would the word of God. We are here to help the Vietnamese, because inside every gook there is an American trying to get out. It's a hardball world, son. We've gotta keep our heads until this peace craze blows over.
Joker: Aye-aye, sir.

Celestial Watchmaker

We cannot control our thoughts completely, so does that mean we can blame our thoughts for our acts of evil? Well in my opinion no, you can't really blame anyone/thing but yourself for you actions, ultimately. But it does raise the interesting issue that not all our acts are of our own choosing, to a certain point our actions are determined by habit, luck and if you believe in it fate or a higher power, that you might like to call god. I have been thinking alot about (the?) religious debate recently, since reading a review for the Richard Dawkins book the 'God delusion'. Which seeks purely to determine the existence of god (your god), and not judge whether the belief that there is a god is a good or a bad occurrence. I think that's (almost?) more interesting, we could debate whether their is actually a god till we're blue in the face and still not come any closer to a conclusion, but whether the actual belief itself is beneficial to individuals and the world is a bit easier to debate, sort of. In many cases belief in religion motivates people to do many good things; donate to charity, be forgiving and generous, lead a positive existence. But of course many will realise the negative things religion can cause. It can cause people to write nasty letters, tell you how to live your life and maybe worst of all the fact that religion (or differences between religions) causes most of the wars in the world. Ok well sometimes its a difference in culture, nationality or politics, things that can be linked very closely in my books (which don't exist) with religion(s). The thing is, belief in an ultimate power or supreme deity fills us with enough 'faith' to believe that everything we do is right. When (if?) we think about it all societies in history have been wrong with some or most of their knowledge of the world, themselves, outer space. To me god or religion is just as complicated or ambiguous as those things. So there is a good chance that alot of what is widely believed today is wrong. So why should any body, nation or society act with so much confidence in their own beliefs that any means can justify these elusive ends? Notice I'm not aiming this particularly at any one group, government or country? Because the more I look into conflict the more I see that usually both sides are right (to a certain extent) its just a clash or situation that is causing both parties to act unfavourably because the circumstance have pitted them against each other so much, that backing down is not an option because it is seen as defeat. So which ever groups you dislike you may assume I was attacking them... but in essence I'm trying to vaguely describe all conflicts. Which are occurring frequently and will continue to do so, and you can't even control your own thoughts!

Its almost unacceptable to think that what you believed in was wrong, but it could be damned helpful in the long run.

Don't be scared... it's only words...

By the way... I'd like to know how many people have ever convert or adopted religion on their doorstep? And if anybody successfully uncoverted someone who came door knocking at their place.... anyway.

Cut the red wire....

We forgot all about your needs,
we were too busy fulfilling our own!

Be afraid... be very afraid! Because if you're whipped up into a state of frenzied panic it's easier for powerful forces to influence your erratic mood shifts and paranoid tendencies.

Unless of course you live in Boston, then you should be very worried about being attacked by cartoon characters from outer space. This shocking plot was revealed by amazing minds that realised that in this post 9-Eleven era (mass media shorthand turned symbolic rallying cry) anything looks vaguely electronic is a bomb planted by people who "hate our freedom".

Ohhh whoops it was just advertising for Aqua Teen using light boards, now I'm even more afraid. Afraid that people who seem to be rational, civilised and living in large metropolitan areas can be so naive, and scared of outdated technology. I have focused on this hysterical reaction because it combines (and shows a clash between) intelligent or thought provoking media (e.g ATHF) versus one dimensional media coverage (e.g 'the news media'), I think some people need to get a grip. Why is it that your so supicious of things your know nothing about? More of the subversive activity can be evidence in this retro classic game made irreverent.

Get a friggin' sense of humour... This is what happens when you spread ignorance on a mass scale (Fox & Friends, et al I'm looking at you!) How come I've heard of ATHF and I live nowhere near the USA, but all these media analyst types on the big news channels have never heard of it? Ohhh that's right by head is located separately to my anus.

Distorted Perceptions

More cynical pragmatic advice on lying for morally bankrupt election strategists!
Nah not really just some quotes I plundered from unknown sources (a bit like fox news!) that I at least partially enjoyed or that can be used against people that frustrate you.

  • Don’t believe everything you think.
  • Wipe you mouth there’s still a bit of bullshit on your lips.
  • Never go to bed angry… stay up and plot your revenge.
  • Why don’t you slip into something more comfortable… like a coma?
  • Shhhhhh… that’s the sound of nobody caring what you think.
  • Did you eat an extra bowl of stupid this morning?
  • I don’t know what your problem is… but I’m sure it’s hard to pronounce!
  • Don’t make me use UPPERCASE!
  • You’re not yourself today… I noticed the improvement immediately!
  • Don’t let your mind wander… it’s too small to go out on its own.

Ok they aren't brilliant but better than empty space I assume.
